Children's Literature: Reference Sources

Reference Resources

Use reference sources (like encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, almanacs, atlases, handbooks, etc.) as a way to gain background information on a topic.  Reference sources provides factual information that can supplement your research. You can also use reference sources to help find additional sources for your research.

Many reference sources are considered tertiary resources so do not rely solely on them for academic research.

Below are a few of the reference sources in our catalog. Please browse the database links and the library catalog for more.

Credo Reference

The Credo Reference database is full of reference material including encyclopedias, dictionaries, topic pages, and more. This is a great source for finding background information about a topic. Use the search box to search Credo's Topic Pages or the link below to find more reference material.
