Two contests. Nine winners. 

It's time to show us your creativity! Participate in our Art Contest or Writing Contest! Submissions are due by April 3 for both contests.

Art Contest

The 2D Visual Art Competition is co-sponsored by the ICC "One Book, One College" Program and the Vagabond Art Club.

"My imagination, unbidden, possessed and guided me, gifting the successive images..."

Sound familiar? It's your turn to put your imagination to the test and enter the 2D Visual Art Competition for One Book, One College's pick this year, Frankenstein: The 1818 Text by Mary Shelley.

RULES:

  • Read the book!
  • Visually depict a concept or theme from the book.
  • Any visual medium is accepted.
  • Size is limited to 156 square inches (14 x 14 square). 

PRIZES:

  • 1st prize:  $50 ICC Bookstore card
  • 2nd prize: $25 ICC Bookstore card
  • 3rd prize: $15 ICC Bookstore card

Submit your artwork and a brief description of your chosen theme or concept to Amy Glass (East Peoria Campus Library) by April 3.

Judging will be completed by April 12, and winners and all submissions will be displayed in the basement art display cases April 15-19.

Writing Contest

The Writing Contest is co-sponsored by the ICC "One Book, One College" Program and the Strike-a-Prose Writing Club.

"Re-animate" your creativity and "piece together" a story with our One Book, One College Challenge!

You are invited to either

  • "Frankenwrite" your own original ending to the novel Frankenstein: The 1818 Text by Mary Shelley
  • or submit an original research paper on Frankenstein.

 

RULES & GUIDELINES:

  • Submit your piece in Arial or Times New Roman font.
  • The maximum page count for the ending rewrite is 7 pages.
  • The maximum page count for the critical analysis is 5 pages.

PRIZES (3 for EACH writing option): 

  • 1st prize:  $50 ICC Bookstore card
  • 2nd prize: $25 ICC Bookstore card
  • 3rd prize: $15 ICC Bookstore card

Submit your work to Amy Glass (Amy.Glass@icc.edu) by April 3.

Judging will be completed by April 12, and winners will be notified April 15-19. There will be three winners for each option, so there are six winners total for this contest.
